I was wandering through a market yesterday and spotted a bunch of old beers for $1 each... I reckon I spent 30 minutes picking through them all looking for anything interesting. It was mostly lagers, pilsners etc which were probably rubbish when they were new let alone now.

I've heard some people say beers aged this long will be crap, others say ok, others say best. I'll open them one day and find out for myself!

Chimay might be good, don't know about the others... I would like to taste a Chimay that old just to know. If they weren't stored adequately then they'll be bad.

They were kept by a collector, he evidently had them in a cellar along with 1000s of bottles... Should have seen them, it really was quite the collection.

If truly looked after the Chimay's will still be great! I had an 01 a few years back. A long way from its original self but still mighty delicious!
Also did a vert tasting of all the coopers vintages this year the 00 and 98 where the highest average score for the night!
Very jealous of your haul anyway. Enjoy!

Drinking the Chimays on new years with some mates (among a bunch of other stuff)

Other than the Oatmeal stout the others were all rubbish. Surprising enough, the oatmeal was even in a clear bottle.
