$12US - but yes, we do pay more, obviously the smaller market doesn't help that
 
just looking at the alcohol tax situation - doesn't help that they're paying approx US 33c per six-pack in tax, whereas for the same packaged beer we'd be paying over $4.50 in excise + GST.

For that matter when you compare alcohol tax levels with Europe, it's a bit screwy as different countries have different ways of calculating tax levels, but at $38.70 per litre alcohol excise in full strength packaged beer we're right up there.

alcohol excises, WET taxes, luxury taxes, GST... and that after we've already handed over half our wage in income tax.. It's no wonder that breweries have to cut corners and produce lifeless suds when most alcoholics just shop on price.
 
OMG a 20% beer. You would have to serve that in shot glasses!

Got to agree with you there- my freind came back from Japan, where he gained a love for scotch, and what cost $30 over there is about $60 over here! He's quite upset :eek:
