Kingy, I had a 1/2 socket professionaly welded by a mate who knows how to weld SS. Even if it cost me 100 bucks I probably would of paid as the result is second to none. The main benefit is that I can take apart my pick up tube, ball valve and clean it after every brew.

Cheers, JJ

Ross, you forgot to mention that sanitation has to be better with "no-chill" as there is an increased chance of it becoming infected during storage.

cheers

Darren

I thought putting the stinking hot wort into the cube would kill off any bugs?

I think it's still important to clean and sanitise the cube before use. I pretty much do the same as I would with a fermenter.

Of course Stu, normal sanitation procedures still apply, nothing to to do out of the ordinary I say though.

Agreed. No need for anything different. I guess I just don't want anybody starting this thinking they can just swish the cube/fermenter out a bit and add hot wort for instant sanitation.

I made the hole in my aluminium boiler by drilling a hole with the biggest bit I had to hand then dremel'd the hole to the correct size.

I bought a cheapie stainless 19litre pot yesterday and just cut the hole in it using my dremel.
