Hi Guys,
I am looking to source regulator for a nitrogen/mixed gas setup, does anyone simply use a CO2 regulator if not where would one go to find specifically a nitrogen regulator apart from one of the sponsors?

Cheers

Paul

Do know how different the gauges are but the bottle connection is different.

That's what I was lead to believe however I have it on good authority from a member of this board who hase a nitrogen/mixed gas setup from BOC Brisbane that the thread is in fact male.

Cheers

I just had a look at mine and its a Harris CO2 gauge (not the cheap version) gauge reads to 600KPA and the hose is a nozzel type more like a BBQ bottle fitting.I havent use this one before, and I believe they may have changed the bottle connectors a while back so your source may be right.

Paul,
this is the standard fitting for nitrogen now,
You can just buy the stem from BOC to screw into your CO2 reg.

I have a Boc Nitrogen reg for my Co2 bottle, I had to get a new screw in adaptor to convert to reg to screw to the fitting, it cost about $28.00 so i cant see how it would make a difference going the other way around.

Thats the same setup i have Nitrogen reg, but i got a stem for the reg not an adaptor.
Either way you end up with bubbles in your beer

Not trying to divert the thread but I asked about nitro/CO2 when I got my setup-cylinder last week at our local BOC agents and they said that BOC don't do it anymore. I take it that I was being bul$hitted?

A straight nitrogen bottle thread is different to C02, BOC's nitrogen/C02 mix is the same as a C02.

BOC nitrogen mix (cellar mix) is only sold to help push beer from longer distances,eg a cellar, this can be done at higher pressure without over carbonating the keg. The nitrogen is not put in there for any other purpose and is eventually wasted gas.

Home brewers want straight C02, and industrial grade at that, but hell lets not get into the food grade nonsense again.

Batz, you say it with my own words, there is nothing more to say about.

AHA so it's a 'pushing' thing, not any way of getting a more creamy head? If so then we are just fine with our CO2 as normal.

Hey Guys
If you are going to change the Nut and Tail on your CO regulator to try and use it for Nitrogen then make sure that your reg can handle 3,000 or more PSI pressure or it could get a bit dicey  as that is what straight Nitrogen bottles are filled to. I'm not sure what pressure the mixed gas cylinders are filled to but as there is some CO in the mix its probably a bit less.

That's the size of it.

They still had them when I was at the gas and gear last month (they had full cylinders in the dock). However from memory (might be wrong) they only do cellarmix in F size cylinders, they should do straight nitrogen in D or VT. The BOC website is down so I can't login to confirm.
