hello,

My name is Joel(cardiomaniac) and I'm a new on this site. Haven't brewed any beer yet and looking for some input. Looking forward to hearing from some of you.

I'm interested in many styles of beer but prefer to go with bottle conditioning for ease and the longer shelf life. I also have a large wine cellar with a cooling unit that maintains 55 degrees where I can store the bottles.. I've heard some beers can be stored for years in such a cellar?

If I'm correct about the storage of bottle conditioned brews I would like start soon with some instructions and a few recipes.. I enjoy many types of beer and not afraid to try anything new but it would be nice to start with something roughly similiar to stella artois and kilkenny and expand from there..

Looking forward to hearing your responses, thank's, Joel

G'day Joel

Where are you from...?

Wine cellars make great beer cellars..

Stu, I'm in Ontario, Canada.

I'm glad my wine cellar can double as a beer cellar-wine collecting is to expensive..

Welcome to the site! And yes, that temperature controlled wine cellar will be perfect for storing beers! Love to have something like that myself, but for the moment I'm yet to turn 19, and am at uni...so I can't really go out and do it haha.

Brewing beer can be as simple or as complex as you want - starting out with basic 'kit and kilo' [K&K] recipes [a can of extract and a kilo of brewing sugars/malts], all the way up to making your own beer right from scratch, starting with grain and hops [All Grain or AG].

A good place to get started is here: FAQ's for new brewers

That will give you the how-to's for the K&K style of brewing, as well as a bunch of useful links.

Good luck - boingk
