For any interest sake, if people are looking for a boiler i scored this pot for $89, its 55cm wide by 55cm deep ~120Lt

I brewed a 120Lt batch on the weekend, and the limiting factor was my mash tun, however I am sure with more practice I could push to 100Lt if i was silly enough

Sorry about the messy brewery, but I was building bits and i was brewing and its very much in "beta" stage

once I have it sorted I will have the controllers and lines all cleaned up. (The control PCB and screen etc was behind out of sight)

I will keep it updated when i get back from holidays.

My current issues are 2400 watts arent enough for the large batch, where I was heating 44Lt for mash and 50Lt+ for sparge. It took far too long, and my beta herms was very slow to heat up this large mass.....

I might add a flame under the mash tun in the even i need to heat that up in a rush, as well as the herms for temp maintaining. The burner (3 ring) was fine under the 120Lt pot, as well as 2400 electric inside.

The HTL might need some help via gas also. I used the hot water tap to fill it for sparge and that helped but i thing more "fire power" is required for the big batches.

Having 3 electric elements also, i control with the micro to limit the 10amp (std. output) however i might use 2 circuits in the house so i have 20Amps now (eg herms on and HLT) to limit the delay.

Big brew day but least the brew "plan" is getting closer IMG_0560.JPGIMG_0561.JPGIMG_0565.jpg

was in melburne "petes bargin center." somthing like that. They had 2 left when i last heard.

rather solid things to. Very large and i dont think postage would be much of an option due to size, however others shops around Aus. should have them so there must be more about

good luck

That's a damn fine setup. There were two of those pots left when I bought one last saturday. There were also some bigger ones.

FWIW I would mention the "80 L" pots because I think poor old Pete has priced it based on capacity and if he knew it was 120 L it would probably be priced at $129.

cheers

With batches that size it looks like you will be buying powells malt by the palette.

I need to find myself a pot that size with a similar price tag, anyone know of a good place close to wollongong (or southern sydney)

Good one, so you're using both gas end electric to get it to boil? How long does it take?
