Ok now for my "stupid question"

I have kegs and the bits and parts, I also have a brew fermenting atm and i HATE BOTTELING!

I have read about naturally carbonating your keg and watched some youtube videos on it, So now i am confused....
My question is....Can i keg, carb chill and drink my beer from my keg just by naturally carbonating? with out the use of a co2 bottle?
Would i need the co2 to help clean the kegs or anything?
I am looking at getting my gass bottle in the next 2 or 3 weeks, just need to get the cash together first.
If i could avoid having to bottle all of this brew id be very happy!

Cheers!

it helps to seal your kegs once they are full, but its not necessary.
also you need half the sugar to carb them that you require for bottles

You wont be able to serve the beer with the natural carbonation....beer will come out but u will send ur beer flat. So yes you can naturally carb but you will need the gas bottle to get the beer out of the keg

if you naturally carb the keg and get a gas bottle/reg ect before you start serving it you will be fine. just dont expect to be serving decently carbed beer for long without the bottle.

If you naturally carb, then you could use this http://www.craftbrewer.com.au/shop/details.asp?PID=979 to push the beer out of the keg.

You'd need to use 2-3 cartridges for a whole keg, but don't try to force carb with a keg charger :)

(which is expensive in the long run)

Eventually you can get yourself a proper gas bottle, and then the keg charger will make a nice picnic charger :)

$60 from beerbelly will get you an adapter & 5 co2 bulbs. On the website it says 1 bulb will dispense a keg so it may be a good short term solution if yr naturally carbing. Given that I've emptied my 2.6kg bottle 3 times in about 3 months it's probably something good for me to get as well.

I'm starting to think that smoking may not be too bad for my health because leaking co2 will kill me before the ciggies do.

I'm looking to do the same thing myself, I read a while ago that a soda stream bottle (330gm) will dispense a 50l Keg, so should do at least 2 cornies. If you don't have a Regulator I have one on ebay that finishes today and is only at about $10 at the moment, it is a CIGWELD/COMWELD reg from a hospital used for CO2. I don't know how much it will go for but it looks like it will go cheap coz I put it under C02 not CO2  . A new Soda stream bottle is $40 from last time i checked but if you get an old one you can swap them over for $12. I would go a bottle and reg over those little bike chargers but thats just a personal thing I have against small stuff.

Cheers,
Joel

No probs naturally carbing your keg, you can do this but you wont be able to dispense unless you have CO2 or another method of dispensing with pressure.

Carb it naturally, if you want to drink it before you get your CO2 then you will need to invest in a soda stream and adaptor, or a party keg dispenser or similar...either way another cost you dont need if you can wait for your CO2.

Or buy a beer engine.

Or brew a english beer, condition (minimally) in a cube with a tap and voila - real ale from the keg CAMRA approved aussie style.
