OK, last night I installed the taps into my fridge after much anticipation. Here's what went on-

The night before, I took the cylinder out of the fridge and replaced it with a keg of amber ale, so it will be good for pouring the next day. A couple hours before GMK turned up, I gassed it. That was all good.

So he came and we started on everything. I must admit that he did most of the work- I would have had no idea what I was doing!

So, he started by drilling a hole for putting the gas line through from outside the firdge, which went well. The biggest problems for the night were 1- ken accidentally cut his thumb, making things much more difficult, and 2- for some reason there was an extraordinary amount of difficulty in getting umm... a part... into the beer line (the end that goes into the tap... can't remember the name of the part now). When Ken tried the second- took about 30 seconds. Oh well...

Anyway, I selected the handles (white ceramic; I liked the white from the picture on the website and I didn't change my mind when I saw them) and the door was measured for the position of the taps. Door was drilled, with me really hoping that he was using the right drill bit :p

After a lot of constructing hoses and the like, the taps were installed one by one. Pulling that first beer was a fantastic feeling :super: The second was just as good :chug:

The story above is quite an abrigement and doesn't really show the huge amount of work put in, and how fantastic Ken was in all that. I really have no knowledge in this arena (and I still don't understand a lot of what goes on with kegging), and without Ken I think I'd still be there trying to hammer the tap into the door of my fridge :p

I'm away from home right now so no pics of the fridge- they will come later (bring up the suspense)

Cheers,

Dave

GMK, you wouldn't happen to be soming to Sydney in a few months time would you? :p

what sort of taps did you get?
i'm thinking of an upgrade

I got an andale floryte tap. I chose that one because it's good quality (Ken told me that andale was a good brand and I chose that particular tap), and also because I thought it looked really nice! Feels really nice when I pull the handle :)

Will be in canberra around late september...

Sydney not planned for a while - i have an uncle in Blaxland though.

The Taps were Andale Floryte Ones Brand new.

The part with the problem was teh SS olive that goes into the 4mm beer line that is secured into teh fridge extension with a nut with a hole in it.

I hope the pics are good.

I only got pics of the fridge after everything was completed- I thought about halfway that maybe progress shots would be good, but it was too late then. If I am still coherent after writing my essays tonight I'll post them then.

I think he might need a visit............maybe after Canberra :p

P.S. Don't forget your tools! For the visit to your uncle's place of course

I took "away from home" as meaning at school/work/cafe/whatever and eagerly logged in tonight hoping for pics...oops

I was at uni- so at my usual internet time- 1.30am- here's the pics

Obviously, here's the fridge, with its AHB magnets displayed proudly on the front. But much better than those is those beautiful taps, which look fantastic!

This is inside the fridge. It needs a couple of cable ties to attach the t pieces to the shelf, but it's a pretty tidy setup, especially with Ken's idea of feeding the lines through the existing holes in the shelf

The cylinder and beer lines for gassing outside the fridge. I must admit, just having that is a major relief!
