I'm with Mark, I ( in my own opinion which is obviously separate to the majority which happens to be 996 people on ratebeer <_< ) like the Torpedo, its a good beer. I dont like the Hefe.

Phwoar... I was merely trying to show this poster that your assertion was contrary to the views held by the majority of beer enthusiasts.

Well you did it in a somewhat cunty way!

...

To the guy above, I don't not like the Hef, I just think it's not that good. Especially compared to their other offerings. I bought a six pack of Torpedo and Hef about 2 months ago. The Torpedo didn't last a night, I still have some hef leftover. Enough said.

Well I am glad that I am not the only one that finds this Limited Edition Brisbane Bitter to be quite a decent quaffer. I am a tight arse and dont like to spend my money on mega commercial beers but after drinking the test sixpack was quite happy to handover the cash for a carton on my recent work away week. Good beer hopefully they make it a standard.

Cheers

I'm not sure I'm ready to try it yet. Still almost throw up at the memory of a few tallies I had with my old man around '75.

Yeah, I did. Sorry. I think it's a really quality hefeweizen, and I suppose I was just reacting to the way you dismissed it without offering any justification or reasoning behind your opinion.

Enough off topic. Sierra Nevada rule, get some. The torpedo is really good. I think all their beers are. Some people disagree.

It is one of the worst beers I have ever tried. Up there with VB! Great adds though. Great looking chicks on bikes. You can see it on U-tube. :)

Have you tried the latest offering Rowy?

Must admit mate I haven't. The memory sticks with me. But at the time I was only comparing it with XXXX and after all the years of megaswill since maybe I should revisit. I didn't know my arse from my elbow about beer then..........still don't.......might be worth a second try :chug:

Buy a can and give it a go. If you think its as bad as the River I'll buy you a beer.

Cheers

Your on  Report back probably Friday arvo!

If the $4.95 Dubbel alluded to was the Grimbergen Dubbel, I can attest to it definitely being excellent value. In fact, I find it more palatable than Chimay Blue and certainly a lot easier to drink in this weather.

I wouldn't pass up on a few Leffe Blondes and a couple of Brunes either.

I'd explore some hefeweizens and vienna lagers too. They'll be a pleasant surprise on a warm summers evening.

Zywiec Porter is a beer not suited for someone who can't enjoy the odd stout. It is an extremely robust, yeasty beer that has many of the qualities of a craft stout but with a fair bit more body. If you don't like vegemite or soy sauce on a good day, then you probably won't know what hit you.

If you want to try your hand at a dark beer, have a go at a Youngs Double Chocolate Stout for a chocolate style and try the Mad Hatters Stout Noir for an anise style. I highly recommend them both.

Torpedo IPA.

Have a try of Brisbane bitter, if you've got it up there. BribieG (who's older than me and this beer) reckons it really demonstrates how dumbed down megaswill has become. I'd tend to agree - it's a former megaswill, but actually has some decent body and a good lot of bitterness with a malty backbone. It's not setting the world on fire, but at his behest, I tried it to see what his point was.

Anything from Murrays should be there. Burleigh's 28 Pale Ale isn't bad, Erdinger Weissbier, Zwiec porter (not the weather, but it's 9.2%), Kosciuzko Pale Ale, Burleigh Hef (really easy to drink), Monteith's Original Ale, Endeavour Pale or Amber Ale. Off memory, that'll do. Have a look at their online catalogue, you might get some more ideas. Anything Belgian, Dans has this $4.99 dubbel which is really really nice - a little unchallenging, but very tasty and more suited to the weather. 4 Pines Kolsch is usually at Dans as well.

Don't be surprised if it's all a bit meh. After brewing such punchy APAs - commercial APA seem a lot more bland that they used to. Not their fault, they can't afford to put out a product with the grain and hop bill I do, and still turn a profit. And Dan's doesn't have a commercial Roggenwie, like the one I make. I'm not saying I'm a fantastic brewer, but not paying the alcohol excise and not having to turn a profit, means I can make beer that simply isn't available commercially.

Sorry to send it slightly OT.

A quiet afternoon ahead of you...

The kolsch and angry man are both good. You'll probably like them.
