Yep, you're the odd one out now, Gav.

Sure you don't want anything in the bulk buy then? You know you want to.

It may well happen, I'm finding myself looking at 30 lt urns and 40 litre pots on ebay for no apparent reason!!!!

Process looks fine, Barra. The OG sounds close for a first go. What volume did you end up with?

watered it up to 12 litres shouldve stopped at 11 for a better gravity , but all part of the learning curve ....

have just taken a gravity reading and its at 1006 already ... that coopers sparkling yeast must have been a bit hungry.... ive been away pretty much since it hit the fermenter yesterday , till about 2 this afternoon , maybe i missed all the airlock action ....

should i rack this off now or leave it a couple more days to let it settle out more ??

I'd just leave it a few days, Barra. No need to get it off the yeast yet.

Did it really ferment out totally in less than 24 hours? That is amazingly fast. How much yeast did you pitch? Was it at full krausen when you pitched? How does it taste?

well like i said i was away for 24 hours so im really not sure but the hydro is sayin it might have... i used a started with about 3/8" of compacted yeasties on the bottom of a 2 litre cordial bottle and whatever was still swimming up in the litre of liquid malt .... ill check it again this afternoon and see what reading i get ...

Top work Ned. Well done. You know that now the hunt for bigger gear starts. :excl: :D

Like Stu says, leave it for a few days before racking, It won't hurt.

Gav, come on - you know you need to.... cross over to the dark side :super:

I know the day will come Phil but it probably won't be soon.

Ned, I fermented the ISB Goldy with a Coopers reculture and found it pretty agressive as well, I did keep the temps down pretty low though (<18 deg). If you're a bit higher and possibly you're OG a little low and a pretty high pitching volume by the sounds of it (compared to the wort volume) then perhaps it's not unusual to have it go pretty quickly.
