Well, I have just returned from an evening of entertainment  Mental as Anything have just played at the Highlander in Holden Hill. As a bloke over 30 and someone who has enjoyed everything to come out of the eighties(except aids) I figured this would be a great show.

Turned up just after 9pm, then had to wait at the door whislt they counted how many people were inside. 20 mins later got to walk through the door. Just before ten the aging rockers took the stage. I recognised a couple of classics but the lead singer could talk some serious crap between songs.

Now I have seen some classic eighties bands in the past, Hoodoo Guru's, Hunters and Collectors, Choir Boys and even Midnight oil(who travelled well into the 90's) But non have made me want to walk out midway through a concert like I did tonight.

The only thing that I found a positive for the night was that between 9.30 - 10.30pm it was happy hour and a pint of Pale Ale was only $3.00(A pint in Adelaide is a Schooner elsewhere) so I guess all wasn't lost.

Has anyone else gone and seen a band that they really enjoyed as a younger person and found a rather big let down live?

Cheers

HK

p.s. My wife who was with me only actually knew 2 of their songs. Makes me laugh. Although I did marry a girl born in the eighties, so what should I expect??? :D
