I have read that if you restrict the output side of a magnetic drive pump (by a ball valve etc) the impeller slips (due to magnetism) and doesn't tend to cavitate in the wort and cause associated issues. While the theory sounds good, I am a little suspicious this actually happens. I guess the question really is: if you restrict the flow from these pumps by a fair amount, do you get any issues with aeration / cavitation in the wort?
