Hi Guys,

I've having another attempt at a partial LCPA style brew.

I've heard from the Little Creatures guys they add chinook in a hopback at the end of the brewing process. Obviously i don't have a hopback :(
so i'll be dry hopping. What would you recommend? 1g/L of brew and dry hop for 5-7 days in secondary?

Recipe as per below

cheers,

I have had the best results chasing the creature using willamette and ammarillo at the dry hop stage. Ive never used EKG as the bittering hop though (maybe that is what i am missing). But my brew using NB , cascade, willamette and amarillo is pretty tasty IMO.

Cheers Brad

Some info from the head brewer about LCPA...

With regards to the spec's of the beer, we are still making beer that is ~38IBU, 5.2% with a final gravity of around 3degPlato (1.012).

Also...

I should also mention that we are continually looking at our malts and hops. Current late hop grist is US Cascade with Tassie cascade and US Chinook, with a touch of Galaxy (nice hop from Tassie/Vic).

It was mentioned many moons ago by a previous LC brewer that they use EK Goldings for bittering. Alex does note above that they play with the hops so EKG may or may not still be their main bittering hop.

Yeah a long time ago there was a post from a former employee that said EK goldings was used as the bittering hop, cascade for flavour and aroma and chinnook soley for aroma. They get the strong aroma by running hot wort through a hopback containing cascade and chinnook flowers.

Interesting they seem to vary the recipe so much. People on this forum often swear the beer tastes very different from time to time lol

Twas a Grumpys thread many moons ago that an LC brewer gave several hints on an LCPA clone.

If you dont have a hopback i would be adding a huge amount (this seasons Cascade and Chinook) at flameout as well as dry hopping.

I use EKG for bittering but doubt that makes a huge difference with such a large amount of late addition hops.
