Hoping to do a simple APA to put on the second tap, as a easy drinking session beer for. I have done about 14 brews so far so am building up some experience and think the below recipe has the right the mouth feel and sweetness i am after. What i am not so sure about is the Galaxy hops. Reading posts here it looks like the 20gms for 10 minutes is what i am after, strong enough flavour/aroma to know it is there but not too strong to overpower the malt/crystal. i also am making only single hop beers recently as i want to get to know each hop.

Suggest you ditch the coopers lager and go Coopers IPA.
I take you are steeping the xtal....if IPA Can back the xtal off to 150gms.
and 50gms dextrine malt - cara pils.

I would only boil the dry extract, the liquid from the crystal (could also boil the xtal but explained this in another post) as you are only doing a 10min boil - tanins will not be a problem.
Irish moss will not do much - so ditch that.
Galaxy go 10gms in with the steeping and then 5gms when you put on heat and then 5gms at 2mins to go.

yeast is good - ferment at 20C - rack to secondary and taste - dry hop if need be.
Store secondary in fridge at 2C for 2 weeks - will make beer clearer and better - also good for dry hoping if you still need some more hop zing.

Hope this helps

Thanks GMK will drop the crystal down, a few brews have been a too sweet lately. Will pick up an IPA and see how it goes with the new hop schedule.

No worries - post feedback on how you go :)

Well i didnt get time to pick up an IPA kit, so a Coopers lager kit was used. To get the extra IBU's and to ensure i would get a strong Galaxy flavour to judge the hop by i went with 20g steeped and 20g at 10 minutes. My nicotine hobby keeps my taste buds a little lazy.

I was regretting not following your advice to the letter GMK after the first few hydro measures/tastes. Galaxy is potent during the ferment stage. passionfruit and grassy/floral notes were over powering.

Its cold conditioning now and the taste i had when it completed fermented was probably a bit strong but mellowing and promising. I am in squirrel mode at the moment and filling up my 6 kegs for summer. So i think i will make this one of last kegs i tap, so it can mellow more.
