I am abou to use my 3 gal kegs for the first time and ahd a look at the posts

I took them off and inside under the poppet is a small plastic spacer or seal. One of them is a bit degraded and has left some gunck on the inside of the post. Has anyone seen these before - they are not included in a keg recon kit? are they neccessary - do they hold the poppet in or actually provide the seal ?

Does it look like this?

They do both, they are a spacer to hold the poppet up and to push the dip tube down to the seal the O ring against the threaded section of the keg. They are more than likely an oddball size (thinner) than the ones which are available to rebuild old firestone kegs (see above)

If they are not too manky then just clean them up and re use them, try turning them around as they do get three little depressions in them from the poppets. If they are knackered then you will probably have to get the ones above and trim them down slightly so they fit.

brilliant I have a 3 gal keg not in service looking for a good replacement of these nylon washers.

That the ones - mine are all cracked although the gas side ones are alright. I sent them an email rto ask if they would post to oz - bulk order brizzybrew?

also found this excellent website

linky

shows you how to make your own out of a few ordinary washers

Roy at TWOC in Perth sells Firestone keg rebuild kits with suitable poppets and the spacers. Not sure if he sells the spacers separate though.

Well - More dramas from my purchase of old 3 Gal kegs from BD

sent an email but no reply - Anyhows

Can you help? - It appears that the poppits for my very old firestone kegs are no longer available.

It 'may' be possible to source some but no one seems to know what the hell they are - will post pickkies

they have a similar one but who knows
POPPETLEG.gif

the number A one - has a small plastic thing underneath.

To the story - I want to replace the posts either with my own getup like this

aDCP01896.JPG

or just other posts that I can get the poppits for

can anyone tell me wht size threads different kegs posts use - my one is somewhere between 3/8' and 7/16"

1/2 in and 1/4 are too big and too small so must be in between - or do they use their own GD  thread size

any help would be appreciated. I would rather not have to get a new threaded socket welded on.
