Found a wallet on Friday night outside Etihad. It had license, boat license credit card and $45 cash.

Managed to track the owner down on Facebook, sent him a message.

One happy and very appreciative bloke came to pick it up today.

My reward....a sixer of Carlton Draught.

Now seriously Im happy just to have done a good deed - but the little devil on the other shoulder keeps telling me I could have got some decent beer for $45

Good on you for handing it back. Something I have done, something I will always do.

The $45 sixer would have tasted sour in your mouth.

I am sure you can turn another good deed by gifting the 6er of CD onto some one who will appreciate it.

If the dude was a Carlton supporter, that explains a few things... and it was probably the only good news he had all weekend. :)

as long as your happy you done the right thing
good onya
hope the same happens if it's your wallet
cheers

Karma will squire you up.....you just may not recognise it when it happens.

Chances are your next brew will be a ripper.

GP: I've got your wallet. I'm in....
Loser: Geez! Thanks mate, appreciate your honesty & the efforts you went-to to contact me. What can I do for you as thanks?
GP: Well, I'd appreciate a couple of beers..
Loser: Yep, no problems.
GP: BTW, I'm a bit of a beer-geek, so no CUB stuff, OK? How about a bottle of.....
Loser: A bottle of WHAT? Never heard of it. Is that beer? Where will I find it? How much does it cost?
GP: Anywhere good beers are sold. Grab one for yourself whilst you're at it & enjoy. You DO want your wallet back, right?
Loser: Not at THAT price!! For BEER? Geez, mate, do you make a habit of looking for lost wallets?
GP: OK, I'll just spend the $45 in your wallet on myself for beer. You can cancel your cards & pay-off the idea of getting your wallet back (which was what you were going to have to do anyway). Choice is yours.....

I personally would not accept anything for returning a wallet or any other item for that matter. I find it rather off putting how people seem to expect a reward for this.
Just me perhaps. Good on you for returning it, plenty would not. :super:

Here's an idea, take that vessel of yours up the Yarra and drop the sixer off to the bums behind the aquarium.. 2 good deeds in one fell swoop

Did the exact same thing this week, bloke was pretty happy to get it back. Had it happen to me in the past when I left my wallet on top of my ute. Someone handed my wallet into the local cop shop and I got it delivered by a local copper. I did **** myself when I saw the car drive up, the wallopper jump out and say "James.....I've been looking for you".

ha ha gold, bet the copper gets a laugh every time he does that :)

i thought Karma repays 3 fold, thats what i work on anyway :)
i try to do my good deed when i can

You don't expect a reward, you might not even accept one, but it is nice when they offer.

Yeah, karmas a funny thing.
I expect somebody to bash into your car with a trolley next time you're at the shops.

No good deed goes unpunished.

When I was at Uni, I left my wallet on the car, and drove home.
Couple of days later the Uni security contacted me to tell me my wallet was handed in.
No details of someone to reward. I think I had savings of about $500 in there (it was the early 80's), and the money was untouched.
I have done the same before in a shop, handed the wallet to staff. Hope it got back to the person who left it.

I first read that as 'wallet IN the car'. So he broke in, stole your wallet, knows your address, but made sure that your wallet got back to you so you know he knows where you live. Sleep well Les?

The actual story is a bit less creepy, happier ending, etc.
