Inexpensive Accomodation Airlie Beach Area? Does It Exist?

G'day All,

I thought I would tap into the world of knowlegede floating around on this forum.

We are heading to the whitsunday coast in November for a week (fly in out of Rockhampton though) and plan on heading to Airlie Beach area. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for good value accomodation. (only needs to be for a couple).

There's a myriad of hotels and various levels of accomodation there, really depends on how much you want to spend. Anything from $15 p/n for backpackers, up to $1000 p/n.... mostly around $120 ish.. Be aware though, Rocky to Airlie is at least 4.75 hours......

Watch out for the straight and sleepy road between rocky and Mackay, claims quiet a few people.
