Good to read, lets hope something comes of it over the coming years.

Finally a bit of traction and common-sense on this - and its from the Greens.

Never thought I would read the words "common-sense" & "Greens" in the same sentence. <_<

If you look at their actual policies they are pretty sensible on a wide range of issues (not all imo but still).

Shhhh...Don't tell them brewing produces CO2...

About time they suggested something that will actually be good for the country. :beerbang:

I bet the fine print says the excise benefits are only for brewing Brown ale.

It looks like a good start, they should change the tax laws while they are at it so they are on par with the wine industry.

Good to see that this proposed amendment is supported by a study that suggest tax credit for the government will increase.
That's hurdle number 1 - ensure that the proposal is for a net increase in income.
Hurdle number 2 - convince the wowsers that encouraging the growth of an industry to produce more alcohol is a good thing. Only a hint of it touched on with the quality argument, but a start nonetheless.

Overall a good thing, and a surprise move by the left to encourage business growth.

Edit: all typed out before LRG post... shame

Vote against the bastards that didn't vote for it.

and there's hurdle number 3 (cynically the least important) convince them that it is what the public want

But we should be able to claim offset credits for storing CO2 in the finished beer... I would support this carbon sequestration approach.
