Your calculations on hop amounts are out as youve got all the extract in a 6.5lt boil which is going to waste hops.

Hopefully the following will make sense here we go.

Ive split up the extract into 2 for the pale. The 700g goes into the boil and the rest goes in after the boil. If you double click on the item and select either the extract late boil or after the boil it will help save hops.

Now uve saved yourself 40gms of hops throw them in dry :icon_drool2:

Double click on the extracts that arent going to be added to the boil. In this case the 1700g and 1000g.
It will bring up a screen like this.

You can either say add the extract in the last 5mins so select that one or if you are just going to dissolve it in the fermenter just click add after boil.

Just so i can understand, why do we only add a small amount an not all of it?

If your gravity is too high, your hop utilisation will suffer. You don't need all the extract in for the whole boil so aim for between 1030 and 1050 for smooth utilisation.

Too high won't extract enough bittering, too low can result in harsh bittering (allegedly - I've never tried).

Np but one more thing when you buy your hops remember to adjust the aa% to match up otherwise it might be more or less bitter than calculated. Just double click on the hops and change the alpha acid part

Ah great, so for 5L boil, 700ml should be enough?

To get 1040 you need roughly 100g of dried malt extract per 1 litre of water. Liquid malt extract is around 20% water so without using a calculator or spreadsheet, that sounds OK.
