Ginger beer that tastes like Scotch and Ginger Ale/Beer

Mulled over this after a few beers on the weekend, using whiskey essences/liquid smoke/oat chips has anyone ever successfully tried to add the peat/oak/smokey flavours of a scotch to a brewed ginger beer?

Could it be done without tasting like arse? what are your thoughts
 
you could possibly mash a little peated malt and add it.

sounds like it could be either oddly nice.... or absolutely terrible...
look forward to hearing the results if you go through with it.
 
I had an oak aged cider on the weekend, which was aged in new french oak barrels and it had a lot of that whiskey taste you may be after.
