HI I am just getting ready set up kegs.... but getting the line on the regulator outlet ...seems F....hard... what I am missing...?
Waiting for CO2 tank to be delivered...so getting ready.... but getting the line over those ribs on the outlet seems really tough... do you use some sort of lube....?

Thanks

Can be a bit of a bugger and assuming hose size suits the barb (rib) size you can smear some lube on the barb to help. Now boil some water and as you pour it into a glass of bowl pour it over the end of the hose, now place hose in the water and leave for a few minutes. Next pace the tip of long nose pliers into the end of the tube, pushing, rotating and expanding the pliers. They are tapered and will expand the tube. Should now be easy to push over barb.

If you don't have the pliers try and find a tapered object or something you can shove up the tub.

Cheers, hope this helps

Thanks - :) I have watched a few videos on setting up tanks / kegs - and everyone goes to "so we have set up the gas line" and is always left out and the only reason I was watching it ! Heat is a good idea... thanks :) . I was thinking for vegetable spray as a lube....would that be ok..?
Don;t have any lube right now...another thing to get ...Actually the pink cleaner is quickly slippery ? Make a higher concentrate of that? thanks

I manage it with just a quick 20-30ish second soak in boiling water, no pliers or lube. Only soak as much length of the tube as you want to go over the ferrule. Otherwise the extra length that's soft goes wobbly and makes it hard to push on the bit whichyou want to go on.

I reckon how easy it is will depend a bit on the internal diameter of your tube.

I also use a sharp blade to clean and ever so slightly chamfer the inner edge of the tube. Depending on how cleanly the tube has been cut, there can be little bits of plastic left behind on the cut edges which stop it from going onto the barb.

I have just finished adding gas lines to the Geelong Craft Brewers portable bar, two 4 way manifolds, two 8mm elbows, an 8mm t-piece and regulator. Some gentle heat with a butane torch and a quick spray of food grade silicone. Still a struggle, but got them all on. Just beware to heat the tube, not burn it, made that mistake a couple of times when glancing away LOL. Lucky I have lots of tube I had lying around.
