I just wanted to no if anyone knows how to release the gas out off a 50L keg and how to hook it up to a gas line my dad got givin one from a mate who got it off his mate from a microbrewy and wants to start using it instead off the 19L ones.

glad to see you did a search.

anyways, do a search for 'spear'. that will give you the info you need for removing a 50L cub style keg spear.
tooheys style kegs are differant again.

you need to proper couplers to work the kegs. you can buy the couplers off micromatic, ebay etc

so what type of keg fitting is it?

edit: im feeling nice today. - link to spear removing for 50L keg
oh and the coupler you need for a cub type keg is a Sankey D-type

Feeling no Mondayitis CM?

I'm guessing he is not looking at removing the spear but at at using a 50l keg instaed of the corny. Craigo, you will need the correct keg coupler to do that so needs to identify the keg first.

There is a semi good hbs in Wagga that a cousin uses - I suggest if you have problems, find it and go along and see if they will help.

the mondayitis is being felt, hence the referance to the spear thread and he can do the research on how to use from there. as if he does want to use it, he will at some stage need to take the spear out to clean and fill it.

if your just wanting to depressureize it (for whatever reason), you'll see a little 'ball' in the middle of the keg fitting. press down on it with a hammer or something and all the gas will rush out.
