I don't think its as philosophical as that. its a bunch of loons who think that the law doesn't apply to them. Its heavily tied up with the tax protester movement which dispute its high falutin rhetoric about rights, liberty and sovereignty basically boils down to - I am extremely selfish and don't want to pay for any social infrastructure (roads/hospitals/whatever) but reserve the right to squeal like a stuck pig when the road outside my house develops a pothole.
