Hi there,

just finished my first stout :)

Coopers Stout (the regular one)
1Kg Brew Craft Dark Ale sugars
500gms Blackstrap Molasses
15gms Goldings dry hopped
3 packs of Muttons gold yeast (two were out of date)

Only filled the fermenter to 18 litres and let it run for three weeks at 18-22, FG 1.018

It's been in the bottle for a month now and I just opened the first one, and I'm very happy. The flavour of the molasses definitely made it through, but after a couple of mouthfuls it's not as obvious. It's not as bitter as the coopers extra stout commercial beer, which is what I was hoping for, and why I added the molasses. Smooth and lovely.

No questions, just wanted to tell someone.

Cheers,
Finn.

Good to hear! You have done well leaving it for 4 weeks in the bottle prior to 'sampling' :icon_cheers:

Sounds great, always wanted to use molasses in a beer but never got around to it. Just bottled a stout I'm saving up for winter, too...

By the by, I take it your a fan of Futurama. Same here, reckon its brilliant! Zapp Branigan has to be one of the best characters around, the 'rock, paper, scissors' bit gets me every time.

Cheers - boingk
