I have been reading a few posts, and it seem plastic fermentors have a lifespan. This is something I had never contemplated.

My main fermentors are 2 years old. This spent in constant use.

I have one fermentor, that is 37 years old, it belonged to my grandad and is used for second conditioning his stout.

Should I look to throwing these at some point if so, when ?

If the 37 year old one is made from 'Bakelite' it may be worth something ;)

Otherwise if the beer you are brewing in them is fine then all is OK

If you just clean the inside with a soft sponge it wont get scratched and last a lifetime

Pumpy :)

yes, all are kept with good care - soft cloth, cleaned with pink death stuff and then sanitised and stored in a cool dark place. and the beer seems to be fine....so far.

oh well, lets keep them in service for a while longer. Save the cash for a conical
