I have 11 left from a slab SWMBO bought me earlier in the year just for the novelty. Maybe I should hang on to them for now.

Do you think he'd be selling it for $19.95 if he actually believed it was going to jump to over $100? Though anything is possible i guess.

So it's $200 + fittings/stand/shipping.

The auction is $269 for a 25L fermentor, with (what appears to be brass) fittings/stand + $45 shipping.

And as for why not: because it's made of plastic.
Despite what the auction description says, scratches in a plastic fermentor are bad, and bad in a big way because they make it impossible to clean and sanitise.
When a cheap plastic fermentor gets old and scratched you throw it away, but at $2-300 these are not disposable bits of kit.
