I was given one of their five-litre starter kits as a birthday present last year. Ashamed to say it went into a cupboard and stayed there until re-discovered during the lockdown.
My first batch, a blonde lager, went into bottles a week ago, no explosions (yet). Since then I've started on a cider and a ginger beer. None of it ready for drinking, so I hope at least one of the three turns out to be a success! But so far this is fun.
I was looking at different reviews for some of the beer kits, Coopers and other brands, and noticed that they often get criticised as having poor quality hops. Is that a general consensus from those with experience? Is it usually better to put together recipes yourself?
