Was just reading the World beer awards 2012 to do some R & D beer shopping. I thought the deschutes red chair NWPA sounded pretty good and clicked through the link to have a read about it and if I could get it. Best thing though was that I found on the brewery web site when you select and read about any of their beers they include a home brew recipe to make a 5 gallon batch. How awesome is that? They are a little vague as you would expect but with the info on the site and brew mate you'd be able to get it damn close.
Question being do any other breweries do this? And has anyone else tried or know where to find their beers?

I've seen some of their beers here before but not often.

I've tried to clone two of their beers (Hop Henge and Jubelale) and didn't get close either time (although it looks like I mostly had the right ingredients for the Jubelale, unfortunately). Might have a another stab at both with this info. Cheers.

Rogue seem to have almost as detailed info for their beers (unless they've changed their page recently). Can't think of anyone else as generous as these two breweries.

Went to Portland a couple of months ago to check out Breweries etc and ended up going back to Deschutes almost daily, only managed to check out a few others because I ended up back there so often, food was excellent and massive interior with lots of bare Oregon timber beams everywhere.

Deshutes is a great brewery and it's fantastic that they put the ingredients to their beers on their website. They make some great beers too boot. As mentioned in the above post their food is really good - I had a french onion soup their last time I was there for $6 (I think) and it was one of the best I've had outside of France.

About 2 years ago I was trying to clone their Abyss RIS and I emailed them with a few questions and they got one of their brewers to get back to me with an answer, I was pretty impressed.

Other breweries do list their ingredients on the web - Goose Island is a good example. Their Bourbon County Stout is one of the greatest beers I've ever had.

If you are having trouble finding a decent recipe for a beer you want to try and clone I'd suggest you email the brewery. The one hit wonders don't usually get back to you but the breweries that produce a lot of really good beers often will.

Firestone Walker, Yeatie boys, Epic and a few others list their ingredients also. Cheers

Thanks heaps for the suggestions and keep 'em coming thanks. I am pretty new to brewing and find it great to sit down with a beer and know what went into it so I can try to get my head around what different ingredients bring to the table. A fun game for a quiet evening.

There's also some recipes & interviews from Deschutes on the brewing network here.

The obsidian stout is one of my favourite recipes.
