hey all,
just posted in wayb but will ask directly here.

couldnt get light crystal at the lhbs so picked up some dark munich instead. original idea was to go with 2kg jw ale malt and some light crystal for color but ended up getting 1kg ale malt and 1kg dark munich. the color promash puts out is about where i want it but wondering what sort of flavor i will be getting. hoping for a lighter session style apa:

the lhbs did have jw caramalt, but the guy said this was different to crystal? using 2kg ale and 300g caramalt gives me the same color.
any help appreciated. thanks

Bad bad bad. Please brew and send to me for closer examination and a final determination. ;)

Looks sensational.

lol. The munich will add more depth of malt flavour to it...imho, theres no such thing as too much munich. Being a base malt, it can be used in higher quantities than crystal or caramalt, it will ferment out like a base malt does, but the flavour is more, well, malty than the JW ale. I often use it anywhere from 20-50%. The use of the dex will certainly ensure its not too heavy.

Caramalt is more toffee/caramel like than regular crystal, btw.

I'd say it looks fairly good...

thanks guys. will go ahead with that then. cheers!
