12 months back I picked up a vintage track bike from the kerbside.
circa early 40's Adelaide built Super Elliot track/path racer.
Entertained rebuilding it for track use but it was in need of some major $$$ and effort o let it languish in the shed.
ended up selling it to a serious collector/restorer for $500 :)

best part is I will still have an opportunity to see it when it's restored to it's original glory as the guy is a local, and collects for keeps.
Nice find!

A few months ago the missus & I found a big TV cabinet around the corner from our house. So we grabbed the ute and loaded it on thinking it might come in handy for storage etc in the back room. Once we got it inside the house, we realized it was too big. So stuck it up on ebay and it went for $180! Nice eh!

Makes me wonder that if you had the time, the inclination and the storage space you could make yourself a bit of money on the side doing this. Just lookup council pick up days in the poshy suburbs and go looking!

Scored one of these for the kids a few months ago (just a little bit sun faded, but not broken anywhere):

Had a quick chat to the owner, he had no idea why it wasn't working anymore, plus his kids had grown too old for it. Dragged it home (only a few doors away). Worked out the rechargable battery was shagged, scored a new one for $40. Then the next day, the previous owner knocked on my door and said he'd found the battery charger for it and gave it to me!

Kids absolutely love it!

Cheers SJ

It's so sad watching kids go belting down driveways at zimmer-frame speed on those things?
Aren't they just asking for a little petrol motor to be bolted on?

What are you talking about Pete?? This one has a two speed gearbox 1st gear=4km/hr, 2nd gear=8km/hr. Plenty fast enough for a nearly 3yo! (2nd gear is currently locked out until she learns the concept of steering and brakes!)

Cheers SJ

old urn, around 8 or 10 litres. it needed cleaning but works well.

Here's another story:

My mother in law's friend was walking through the streets of Paddington (Brisbane) one day and saw a painting resting up alongside a fence of a house, out for garbage collection. So he picked it up, brought it home and then hung it up in his hallway. He didnt think much of it at the time, actually thought it was "a bit ugly" but for some reason decided to keep it anyhow....

A year or so later one of his friends came around, recognized who the artist was that signed off on the bottom of the painting and said he's quite famous etc.... So they went and got the thing valued and it was valued at up to $20,000!!!

So obviously they were over the moon at that, and they've still got it hanging up there ready for when they need the cash! Score hey...

Ah okay. The ones I've always seen (inlcudiing my spoilt niece's Dora the explorer scooter & jeep) are stuck in zimmer-gear, and stall on grass.

Been a while, but this thread is worth reviving.

My backyard brewnights have just got a shitload better thanks to the kind people of Sydney. Hifi speakers + old Akai hifi amp.

I really love that deep "thump" you get when you fire up one of these babies!!

I was looking for a wee sound system for the brewery / studio where I could put in a USB stick or play CDs / Music DVDs and was actually going to pay a hundred for a little Philips box, then this.

Old Aldi TV, (edit, 32 inch LCD) - speakers built into the side columns are bloody impressive compared to the pathetic tinny things that come in the new skinny TVS.

No remote or STB but I've found out how to work the buttons on the body of the thing, all works well.

Plugged in a spare DVD player I don't use any more and Beethoven while I Brew :) - or Pink Floyd depending on how many pints so far :super:free telly.jpg

Top idea.
A lengthy prog rock solo would be just the ticket to save me from filling the mash / boil / hop addition gap with crap like yard work and chores.

I'm also partial to a bit of Floyd whilst while enjoying a 'pint'.

Have a look in Dick Smith for one of those Universal Remotes, - you should be able to get it working on the aldi tv. or have a google for a replacement

Nice Find!

Reject Shop, $8 universal remotes. Schmick looking, too.

Another sweet find by my brother. He turns up last night for a bbq and says "check out this find!"
Pulls out of the boot a little Peavey Backstage 10W practice amp, minus the power plug. WIN!
Once I recovered from the hangover this morning, it was a quick trip up to bunnings for a new socket, 5 minutes work, and the amp actually works! Dropping it back to him tonight.
