As a footnote to this thread, please always read the labels on cans.

1. If buying a kit or extract, turn the can over and check the use-by date. If you don't see one, put the can back on the shelf!

2. Read the ingredients list: malted barley, hops is good, make sure it has appropriate malt, there is a wheat kit that does not list wheat malt as an ingredient! Would be nice to know if they are real hops v isohop extract. . .The Coopers and Morgans cans are trustworthy, of the NZ kits I would trust those labelled "Malt Shovel" From my kit days I remember Muntons as making good kits but they are pricy as buggery!

3. Read the contents: a 1.7Kg kit is better than a 1.5Kg kit. A 3Kg all-malt kit is better still
