Hi Guys is there anyone can help me out with actual knowledge of buying a conicle fermenter from china,I have been quoted $540 + $18 shipping to Brisbane for a 60 litre this sounds real cheap to me but I am thinking that I am going to get shafted somehow,I have been cheating a bit over the last few years and have been buying kegs from the pub but Im about to go on age pension and have to start making my own again,I prefer to put my beer in 50 litre kegs and I thought comical fermenter in the old glass door fridge would be the go.???

I priced one from china but then decided against it because of my experience of chinese wares (think bunnings). Its alot of money to invest in something that MAY be alright.

I've been looking at the following...

Here's a 25L plastic one for $180. You could buy 2 of these and still have change!

And this bad boy is around $100 australian. Its a plastic 60L, its from the uk. Doesn't have fittings but that could be sorted easy enough.

Add shipping to that and I doubt you would be so excited by the price.

Thanks for that it certainly is another way of looking at it

There was an aussie plastics company that released conical containers not so long ago on this site. Can't for the life of me remember their name.

Anyone remember?

Hi stevenali
I made the plunge and had a SS fermenter made in China, it will be shipped this week
The contact in the factory has been most helpful, even calling by phone a couple of times to clarify details.
As it will not arrive for a week or so, I can't offer any more assistance
It cost about $1010 which is (I think) just over the duty free threshhold. The exra $10 was to fit a thermometer
Freight is more than half the cost, DHL are difficult to work with in Australia, so I sent the money via bank transfer including freight

I will post a report when I recieve it
Cheers

How about a 15 gallon cone bottom tank (base angle 60 degrees) with a 1 1/2" female pipe thread boss on the bottom? It is 19" x 27 1/4" with a 12" screw on lid. US Plastic LINKY for USD $68.85 + USD $175 postage (I got a freight quote to Adelaide).
Yes the postage is a killer but at least the tank is cheap to begin with. Can't get cheaper freight because they use who they want to use. At the moment it would be about all up about AUD $254 to my door.

Then add a SS weldless bulkhead and a SS 2 piece full bore tap (~$45), maybe a SS 1 1/2" to 1/2" reducing nipple plus a SS 1/2" male/female elbow and a SS 2 piece full bore tap (~$50). Drill a hole in the lid, add a grommet and airlock and make a stand from what ever you have lying around.

You'd be in 56 litre conical fermentor business for around $350.

Yeah, thats the one. Just found it myself actually. Not as cheap as I remember, but Aussie made.

Nice links cannibal smurf and Malted.

It would be so sweet to be able to harvest the yeast like that.

yes thanks very much for all your comments and help Regards Steve Rush River Heads
