Rocker, do yourself a favor and up the temp!
You put all this effort in to craft a delicious beer, then you don't actually get to taste it in all its glory!

Fair enough for Landscaping / Lawnmower beers. Smash them down and don't taste them hardly anyway.

Ales at 0 degrees? ARGH!

Cheers,

Well, as I said, by the time they're in the glass they've risen a few degrees as I don't chill my glasses. This is why I have them stored low; I don't want to be drinking beer at 10 or 15 degrees. I find them perfectly enjoyable as they are, and they warm up reasonably quickly in the glass anyway so I don't feel as though I'm missing out on any flavour.

My brewing and serving practices are for my preferences, not everybody else's. If I wasn't enjoying them then I would change whatever was causing me issue, but that is not the case at the moment.

Good to see someone who can retract a statement after considering another's point of view.
Not how I temperature-manage my setup, but I can see and understand the Queensland logic there. If the beer tasted flavourless, adjustments would be made.
Congrats on 666 posts. Diesel.jpg

As for me, I'm an advocate of enough gas to do the job.
If you find yourself running out quickly, upgrade the bottle size, but only if it still fits your situation (e.g. in the fridge/freezer or next to the kegerator).
I thought I had 2 CO2 bottles, but realised that one was sold without consultation. For years, i had a 10 KG bottle that came with my first kegerator, and only ran out about 3 years ago.

Now I'm looking at a big bottle option to support my planned 10 tap keg freezer. There is no kill like overkill!

I would grab a Soda stream bottle and adaptor for emergencies. Should be able to serve beer over the weekend, maybe force carb a keg

The Cylinder valves cost $19 each, the cylinders and gas cost me a slab of Carlton Dry. Where there's a will there's a way,
