Hia,
Hopefully it's something basic that I'm overlooking but I can't seem to post anything through firefox - I can view and click on 'reply' but the browser won't allow me to select inside the pane where you type your message. I recently reformatted and reinstalled everything - I have spent the last couple of days getting all software and drivers up to date with the latest versions. Before the reformat I did have issues with the message composition pane - I couldn't select where to put the cursor,it was always just ON or OFF and I'd have to use 'quick edit' or 'quick reply' to move stuff around. But now I can't type a thing using firefox. IE and the iphone work fine but neither are user friendly.

Has anyone else had this problem - do you know of a fix, is it just a setting..? hopefully.

I'm running vista with all the updates (SP2 etc) on a dell xps m1330. Firefox is v3.6.8

Cheers

Any effect when you toggle HTML source? (Second button at the top of the Add Reply window)

I use ubuntu know so no pobs with firefox but when i had vista on i did one stage have a lot of probs with fire fox shutting down so i used safari for that time u wont get me using ie

I had this problem with Firefox 6.X on my Mac so I reinstalled 5.9 which works fine.
I sent through a bug report in version 6.2 I think but sadly things haven't changed.

+1 Another Ubuntu FireFox user without issue. Have all sort of issues with Windows and IE last 2 days glad I have alternative that works

What version of Ubuntu are you using out of interest? I am running Lucid Lynx maybe its just the later packages causing grief?

HTML source option allows me to type, then I have to click 'save HTML' and I can get a post happening. OK work-around for text only but hardly user friendly, no pics, not happy. Maybe chrome is the go

Of course you can post pics. You can still upload here the same or use your own with <img src="yourimageurl">

Not 100% sure but isn't Chrome supposed to be a Spyware fest?.

P.S. I am using Firefox 3.5.11 with XP automatic upgrades switched off. everything working.

On Win 7 computer using Opera.

Yes but no. If I use the upload function and then insert it with the 'manage' drop down it doesn't actually appear in code or text, before and after clicking 'save HTML' so I guess it's like flying blind as I don't know if my pic's there or not or where it's going to sit.

If I remember correctly (which I may not as I've just been uploading to my own webspace so I can put them where I want for a while) it throws them in first even though there is no code shown. If it isn't first it is at the end - regardless of where the cursor is, etc.

It seems the pics are going at the end... Regardless of where I try to place it. I've plonked it in then written this last para after...

Another interesting point is that when I click preview I can't see any images at all. Post it and there's the image at the end of the post. Sorry to harp on...I'm clearly a forum-tard

There is a few viruses attacking firefox at the moment; what virus scanner do you have? I have found AVG did not detect one.

Pretty sure this isn't a virus. This problem started for me as soon as Firefox 3.6 came out. It only happens here, not anywhere else.

As Tropical_Brews cryptically mentioned, there is a discussion and work-around mentioned in this thread.

Cheers,
tallie

Is that the same one already discussed above?
