Attached are some pics of what I discovered this afternoon much to my disgust.

If anybody knows the schweppes kegs they have this little rim around the bottom. All mine are a bit bashed about and out of shape. I have 5 of them in total and one smaller corny with the black rubber bottom bit. I have inherited two of these little freezers with my new house and want to squeeze three of them inside.

As you can see they all fit beside the compressor hump when they are upside down but the lips stop them fitting the right way up. Can I bash the shit out of these rims and make them fit standing up the right way? Upside down may turn out to be a hassle! Has anybody taken to them with a grinder? I don't know whether the rims contain pressure.

I'd be more inclined to make some 'adjustments' to the middle of the compressor hump with a cutting dics, and refill with some expandafoam and some epoxy over the top to seal again. In effect, make the freezer fit the keg.....or would that approach be crazy?

I kinda thought there would be stuff behind the compressor hump that might not get along with grinder blades. Like wires and motors and lines filled with gas and stuff.

If it's been done before successfully I'll get the grinder out. Anybody taken to their compressor hump?

Oh sorry, maybe I should have included a pic of how high the third one is sitting up when it's on the hump. I would need a collar at least 600 0r 700mm high.

I intend to make a collar anyway just didn't want it so big.

See what I mean? It would be one hell of a collar. I only wanted the collar to be 20cm or so.

now go and get a tape measure

WTF does go and get a tape measure mean?

I'll ask the question again. Anybody know whether I can knock the lips in on these kegs?

The answer to my question if anybody is interested is yes. You can grind the hell out of the rims on the bottom and clean em up with a flapper wheel.

Now they all fit and I don't have to build a collar to the sky OR buy a new freezer.

Your a brave man henno. Looks like no one knew the answer to your question but you did it anyway! Respect!

And now if anyone else needs to panelbeat kegs we shall now have the answer, biggups! :super:

Thanks Fents, I was rather pleased with my bravery. I've gone a bit grinder mad on my new property, it fixes everything.

You know that Simpsons episode where homer gets a gun and uses it to do everything around the house? That's me with the grinder.

Restecpah! I love your grinding attitude... :D

Hells Bells

Bit rough old thing !

The big drama you had, was that those kegs were panel beaten originally to make them shorter by the look of it, hence making the lip stick out at the bottom.... I have exactly the same kegs, and they are the same diameter right down the profile of the keg
