The Bullant brewpub in Bruthen, VIC has added what they call Gold Rush Lite, at 3.5% abv. On the recommendation of my English son-in-law I tried it, Despite the name, it's really quite a good English bitter. It has the pear and other fruity esters you usually get from a bitter in England. Though a bit on the pale side, it has good malt background and noticeable toffee, with a touch of sweetness up front. The hops are nicely earthy but on the light side for the style. The carbonation would probably be too high for the real-ale people in the UK. Kegged, I assume.
The kolsch there is also recommended, as other threads have noted. I tried the hefeweizen for the first time. The description says good malt balance, with which I agree, and a balance of clove and banana, but I got very little banana and too much clove for my tastes, Maybe it was getting a bit old.
