Hey everyone I've put a recipe together based loosely on a porter styled drink. Interested in peoples thoughts on possible changes as its only the second dark coloured Ag I've brewed (3rd if I include the Munich Dunkel which got infected :( )

Recipe
OG ~ 1.047
Colour ~ 40
IBU ~ 24.6

4.00kg JW Pale
0.40kg Flaked Barley
0.25kg JW Choc
0.15kg JW Crystal

15g EKG for 60min
15g Northern Brewer for 60min
15g EKG for 5min

I was initially planning on using Muntons Gold yeast again, although I'm tempted to use S-23 as an experiment instead. Also brew day is planned for tomorrow arvo.

Thanks, Dave.

I know that BJCP style guidlines say that
English or Irish ale yeast, or occasionally lager yeast, is used.

But I don't see it being right with a lager yeast, myself, and would not use a lager yeast for a porter.

Looks good Dravid , brew it as is it'll give you somewhere to start from & you can tweak it from there. The only tweaking i think you'll need for that will be personal tastes.

Thanks guys, I'll just brew it as is. I'll keep things updated as to the outcome of the recipe when its ready.

Thanks again, Dave.

Could add 150gms of Brown Malt - will add good depth and extra flavour.

Mash around 66C.

Hope this helps
