Did my first mash today in a couple of years. It did not go as planned. Started mashing 12odd yrs ago BTW.
Single infusion. 5.2kg grist. Little creatures bright ale clone.
Set strike at 67 for a 64deg mash. Usually spot-on. Dough in at 2.75:1, 76deg......wtf?? Seems the RTD, temp controller or both have crapped out. Bugger.
1hr mash, got down to 64 after 25mins.
Sparge at approx 85deg. Temp controller was all over the place and changing temp offset was not helping. Started using ext. thermometer.
Sparge for about 1hr, 39L into kettle @ 1021.
90m boil finished with 21L into cube @1058. Was shooting for 23L@1048.
I need more practice😁
