Had a look around this site and asked Mr Google but could find very little current info.

I wouldn't mind putting some of my HB's into some comps to get some feedback. I am based on the MId-North Coast of NSW so could do Sydney/Newcastle etc. Anyone know where I should be looking?

My local Ag show has a HB section but it looks a little traditional e.g. Lager/Ale/Pilsener etc. I get the feeling anything not containing POR might be marked down. Funnily enough no Belgian Strong category!

Cheers

Hi,
Considering you're mid-north coast, you might want to consider entering into the Bitter and Twisted homebrew competition, which is held in the Hunter(Maitland) every year around October.
Details usually pop up closer to the date, but keep an eye on posts from HUB members.

Nothing much going on with comps at the moment. We'll be holding the Castle Hill Show comp again this year, probably in September. There will also be the state comp around the same time.

Bathurst as well, normally on in Oct/Nov, might be a little far from Wauchope though (that's where Timbertown is isn't it?).

If the local Ag show has a contest it might be good for a laugh - you may be surprised and i'd say there wouldn't be many entrants which makes the chance of winning higher :)

The local Ag show was indeed good for a laugh. Just after posting I found out that the Camden Haven Show (about 30 mins form here) was on the weekend just gone. Got the lovely wife to drop off some beers on Friday. The categories were slim pickings (New/Old/Lager/Stout/Specialty) but I squeezed three of my beers in.

My dark ale got a second in the Old category and I won the specialty category with an IPA. Not sure how much competition I had, who the judges were, or what they thought (no feedback sheets). I actually picture a bloke named Ron/Barry/Bob sitting at the Showground on Friday night getting pissed on free homebrew. Pretty sure they would think BJCP stands for Beers Jugz Chicks and Porn. They seemed to be a bit vague when asked if this was a feeder comp for the ANHC in Melbourne or the NHC in San Diego....... ;)

Now all I have to do is see what to do with my winnings! $20 voucher at the local bottlo, not sure if they stock Trappist Roquefort 10?

Thanks for the info on the rest of the comps guys. Might try and line up the B&T and Castle Hill Shows later this year.

There was definately a "Barry" judging at the Albion Park Show and the Nowra Show.

Just to let you know the Bathurst Comp. is no longer. After 15 Years we have given it away for good.

Spoke with Christian from the ESB brewers a couple of weeks ago and he said the competition was coming up, it would be winter warmers or Old Ales I believe.

I reckon the NBHC should run a comp in between the Castle Hill official show! Good onya Bjorn :)

Thanks to you Brian and all the Bathurst Brewers for the great effort, hospitality, friendship and great times over the years. I, like so many, will truly miss the experience and comradship with the Bathurst Brewers.

Gonna need some designated drivers for the judges at the ESB comp with all those high grav beers me thinks!

Personally I would love to see Belgian Dubbel's on the list (only because I just brewed one!) but realise you guys are shooting for higher gravity beers. Is this comp likely to be repeated next year and if so will it be the same catagories?

If it is it will give me some time to get something into the bottle and put a bit of age on it.

Hey Beer Slayer, do you need stewards, or have you got it sorted ?

happy to steward as well, so long as swmbo hasnt organised something that day.

Fellow AHB member Korev is organizing it all. Keep posted
and I'm sure he will pass on more details as time comes closer.

In the meantime get brewing I'm sure this will a great comp!!!!
