Folks
I put down a batch of Braggot over the weekend. Brewer Pete has posted some braggot recipes before but mine is a very diferent beast. His are strong and wine like. Mine is closer to a beer. 2/3 of the fermentables come from grain. 1/3 from honey. I have made it 50/50 and that was good too but I prefer the 2/3-1/3 ratio.
2.7gk Ale male
.3kg Wheat malt
Mash at 66
Collect 25l in the kettle.
25g of Northern Brewer at 60 mins. 30g EKG at 10 mins.
At flameout add 1.5kg of honey (ironbark in this case) and stir in well.
Ferment with WLP005.
OG was 1.045. I was aiming for 1.050. When I cleaned the kettle I discovered about 5 points worth of honey still stuck to the bottom so when I say stir well I mean stir REALLY well.
Cheers
Dave
