Neonmeate's post on Platinum Cellars just reminded me - does anyone know of the best place to get a good range of imported beer in Canberra? I've been to Dan Murphy's in Belconnen a few times, but I'm wondering if there's more fertile ground somewhere...

Cheers

Where is Plonks ?

Great, thanks Steve - right under my nose! I go to Fyshwick markets fairly regularly but have never actually walked the ten extra meters into Plonk before

edited my post Fatz

Thanks Steve. Will drop in there in February and see said Dan ! Went to Dan Murphys Belconnon last Sunday and a little disappointed in the range. It was goodish, extraordinarily better than say Liquorland, but nothing other than a Velkopopovicky Kozel Cerny jumped out and bit me (ignored the Belgium's - still not a fan). Re stocked my wine cellar though !

I was working in Canberra a month or so ago. First Choice (I think it was called) in Mort St just up from the shopping centre had a pretty good range including some stone jar dubel, tripel quadrupels

Holy jesus! That's an impressive looking list of beers.
And I just happen to be down the way in a months time...

Great recommendation, just went down today and Dan convinced me to come to one of the Canberra Brewers meetings...have always meant to get there since I moved here, but think I'll actually do it now!

I heard that the liquorland in Oaks Estate has a decent import/craft range as well, and is very competitively priced, but I haven't been there myself.
