Hello fellow homebrewers. I'm bored and figured I'd post up a recipe that I just made tonight. I call it Borja Amber Ale, and I plan on tweaking different ingredients after I'm able to drink it and make it again, in order to form it into a decent brew. So anyway, here's what I did:
(2) Munton's LME Extra Light 1.5kg cans
500g cracked crystal grain
1oz packet of Cascade Hops
1oz packet of Centennial Hops
11g Nottingham yeast packet
I steeped the grains in 1.75 gallons of water for 45 min @ 150 deg F - 65 deg C, added one can of LME after steeping and brought to boil. I hopped the 1oz cascade pellets for 50 min, added 1/2oz Centennial pellets @ 10 min, and the last 1/2oz Centennial pellets @ remaining 5 min. I added the last can of LME at flameout. After combining wort to my fermenter with cold spring water, and topping up to about 5.5 US gallons, I pitched my Nottingham yeast @ 82 deg F. My OG reading was 1.048 @ 72 deg F. It looks like a really deep yellow/amber color, and the wort smells excellent so far, can't wait to try it in a few weeks.
So anyway, I figured I'd start a topic since I haven't been on in a while. Please tell me your recommendations, flavor predictions, critical comments, or any other input is welcome. Happy brewing!!!
