Years ago when I started brewing we were in Sydney and I boiled water and allowed it to cool before filling my fermenters to make sure the water was sterilised. I did this by adding the boiling water to a cube and closed it up - like no-chill.
Now we live on the farm I still do the same as the water is unfiltered, and you never know what has washed in to the tanks. It's great to drink but I don't know about wild yeasts, etc. So I have continued boiling water each week for my K&K brews.
Is this sane - or should I give up on boiling to sterilise the water and what are the alternatives.
I hoping to start BIAB brews soon so I'll be boiling anyway
Cheers
Steve
