After reading a thread today regarding glass carboy safety, I thought I would post my setup.

I like to rinse and clean my carboys outdoors, I have no lawn, and cleaning a glass carboy on hard surfaces scares me. So I came up with a quick and dirty equivalent of the demijohn wicker base - tying the thing into a milk crate.

I used strong cord I had bought form spotlight, originally for a BIAB bag. I used 2 lengths and 'trucker's hitches' to tie the carboy down to between the four corner posts, and a further length to pull the loops down from the top of the neck and maintain tension.

This means I can safely place it on hard surfaces, and provides handles for when things get slippery and/or heavy. It also means that I can upend it into another milk crate to blast rinse water upwards and allow it to drain.
