We have a conference at work today and amongst the catering equipment I saw this:

Basically just a big percolater - hot water comes up the centre pipe and runs back through the perforated stainless basket.
It looks like it could hold up to a couple of kilos of grain so would suit small batches.
What I don't know is if the water needs to be boiling to get up the tube - in that case it won't work.

I'll have a look when it's operating and see what goes.

What's the total capacity of the unit? I guess a SS guy could put an extra "collar" on top of the basket to hold say 5k and have it sitting lower down into the unit. However does the unit work by pump or by shooting boiling water under steam pressure up the central pipe? That would make it no good for mashing, but a pump would be the go.

It says on the side 100 cups so I guess around 25 litres.

No pump and no temp control so lookls like it's relying on steam pressure to get up the tube.
