I have been using Cyberghost for some time, Doesn't slow down what I normally use the net for.

I'm using ExpressVPN and pay for the privilege. There are free ones available, but my understanding is that you get what you pay for.

The comparison with 'Dial-up was a slight exaggeration, but waiting for emails to download is painfully slow.

How do you know if your VPN is actually doing anything, other than slowing your computer down to near 'Dial-up' speed?

I find the one I use so slow, it's frustrating and I usually disable it.
I have a 50mbs connection, on VPN I get 45mbs on a slow day. I'm in Adelaide closest geographical servers in Melbourne but Sydney and US servers yield good speeds.

Is this Metadata sellable?

If so, maybe the gov don't give 2 ***** about what we look at unless it's fertiliser or kiddy **** and are selling this info?

I've Found Private Internet Access pretty good since I've been using them, first and only VPN I've used though. Good to look for one that allows multiple devices so you can put your phone/laptop through it as well. Whichever one you go with its also a good idea to make sure they don't log the data, most state they don't but who really knows anyway.

Best recommendation - don't use a free vpn. Some are really dodgy. There are plenty of good paid ones out there that aren't expensive. I think I'm looking at around $70/year for mine.

If your not doing dodgy ****, dont be scared
I'm not a fan of the old nothing to hide nothing to fear mantra, that said I've been using PIA for some time now and don't have web rtc enabled.

The **** you do may not be dodgy and of interest to the spooks, but it is extremely interesting and extremely valuable to the companies that collect, mine and on sell your data to all sorts of third parties. Who then on sell to other third parties... And so on.

A VPN gives them the big middle finger. Pretty much everyone in the department that handles the big data stuff at work uses a vpn because they know exactly what their data will be used for if they don't.

Pretty sure I'm gonna carry on doing what I do, forget about this thread, and be completely unaffected by this BIG SCARY news.
