With roughly an acre of lawn to mow and some perilously high retaining walls to navigate, the term has taken on a literal meaning for me.
Is there a style that lends itself to low alc - say under 4% - that's not to difficult to get the balance right?
Is it a matter of reducing the raw ingredients until you end with the desired ABV then mashing either slightly higher (or lower) to manipulate the fermentables?
I prefer a little more malt profile than hop in my regular beer's, if that helps.

cheers.

I love a Mild for my low/mid ABV beers. Drinks beautifully, without getting me off my face.

Great minds think alike :D

Saison would be a good one. I've been making quite a few lower alc beer lately, got stuck into my Bastadised Blonde Ale yesterday while pulling weeds out, only about 4% and very lightly hopped with Nelson.

Edit: I was thinking a Mild also, but I reckon after being in the sun all day, a pale refreshing not so malty beer would be great

Or how about a Kolsch? Serve it traditionally in the small glasses (200ml or so) and that way you're never left with a warm beer in the sun because it's gone in two or three slurps.

It's also light and refreshing and not too high in alcohol content.
