I think I've figured out where to get them and I should be able to go on Tuesday to shop.
HWMBO is currently in the Hofbrauhaus tent at oktoberfest getting sloshed with his colleagues so
I nicked into town to get his birthday prezzie.
Well when I went to see the glasses they weren't as nice as I thought they'd be.
I discovered a shop (well its a great big shop so it wasn't hard) called
kustermann and they have everything from
cheap and peppy $4 wine glasses to villeroy and boch crystal with everything in between
including brewery glasses, daggy bavarian glasses, etched glasses and ritzenhoff so if you're
ever looking for german glasses in munich, check it out.
I bought HWMBO a couple of crystal biertulpes.
I think he may be spoilt. And who drinks beer out of crystal anyway?
They are beautiful and make a fantastic sound when you stroke them.
BTW - the andechs pointer was a good one. Definitely the best beer we've had from bottles here, although HWMBO favours dunkels which may be because his sense of smell is a bit dodgy so hop aroma may be lost on him.
The best beer I've tasted here was a hacker-pschorr weissbier which was loaded with yummy citrus flavours.
that was at a restaurant and no doubt fresher than the bottles I've been buying.
One day I'll post a pickie of all the empties he's collected so far.
