Hi I have a keg that is leaking through the top. I have another keg that I swapped. This is now leaking out the top. What am I doing wrong.. was not leaking on other keg. Thanks

Precise location of leaking.. from the base or from the hole that should be sealed by the poppet valve?

tried pulling post apart and lube poppet oring and putting back together?

As per SBOBs advice - every few brews you should take the posts off, give them a rinse out if needed, re-lube and put back together. It's just the o-ring 'sticking' and not making a good seal after the original lube wears off.

About every six months or so I go nuts breaking apart and soaking/cleaning everything.

Note if the lube doesn't help, check for physical damage to the post.

Thanks, interesting one of the valve sits loose and another looks a screw to undo? I have Lubed the offending post... see that helps thanks

Hi Guys, I have checked this am last 40 psi, about 18 psi (not connected - I don't want to waste gas if leaking) - This is new beer, so not sure if is still leaking or is the co2 is being absorbed into beer? How much would go into beer or would stay 40psi? I always assumed if the beer was carbonating it would drop in pressure while the beer was absorbing, and then when carbonated the pressure would remain static...PS there does not seem to be a small ammount of beer on top of out post, so I assume not leaking now...could be elsewhere... cheers

Same as you I was troubleshooting a gas leak with two kegs that had just been filled and needed carbing.

I had the two kegs drop from 40 PSI to 20 PSI overnight (with the gas bottle off to avoid loss). I too was wondering if this was normal absorption or a slow leak. Turns out it was normal absorption for me. I kept on testing and found the kegs would hold steady at 12 PSI day after day once they were carbed

Note: my trick to finding my leaks ( I had two one in a new MFL screw on barb and one under an IN post) was to paint detergent on every possible seal with the system at 30+ PSI. The leaks bubbled very obviously through a nice thick layer of 'Morning Fresh'

Thanks - yes same for me held at about 12/15 psi, so leaked stopped .....I lubed inside the post/seal/valve.....

cheers
