US-05 or an english strain for a sweeter beer

cheers

Tony's recipes look the goods. :super: :chug:

Just don't use US05 with a bitter. An English yeast (liquid or dry) will make a much better beer from Tony's recipe. US05 leaves a drier beer, with less body to it IME. Great for some styles though.

Yeah Tony, post or PM recipes I'd love to have a look.

Mate,

Having made and drunk both Tony's Old and LCBA - I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to you.
They are both top beers that have been taken well by non HB drinkers ;) .
The other 2 look very nice too  .
I think you could do alright with Tony's Fab Four!!

Cheers,

Craig

make some real lager and add soda water. Aussies hate the taste of beer.
Feed a few cold glasses of Champagne into the Bride's maids

Ok, I got my sisters wedding coming up in November and I'm responsible for getting everyone sociably lubricated. I got 10 kegs to fill and can have up to 4 brews on tap at once, so I 'd like to utilize this.
I don't have a lagering fridge so I'll be looking at doing ales.
Part of my problem in deciding what to brew is that the majority of people attending drink Tooheys and VB!!!
So, how do I keep everyone happy without doing a VB clone?
I was thinking about an IPA, possibly a stout for those who may be into it (there may be?).
But If you haven't guessed so already I'm out of ideas and am throwing it out there to you for any suggestions.

Gnome,
Just wondering how the wedding brews went? I too have my brothers wedding end of Feb and need some ideas on what to brew?

As others have said Tony's recipes look good, OR Ash in Perth Aussie Pale from the Recipes above Linky it's one beer the masses will like, I must be one of them as I like it also :p .

Edit: typo

my $0.02:
why, if you have a captive audience and the chance to blow them away would you consider something bland? Make them taste it. It's free beer at a wedding for chrissakes, not like they're going to say "no thanks, I'll stick with the lemonade".
I brewed for a wedding, a best bitter with lashings of goldings, an APA and an American brown. The APA was light and crisp and the Brown was big and chewy. Both were hopped up the waazoo. Everyone who tried them liked them - the kegs were emptied.

Give it heaps I say, make em think twice before reaching for a VB again.

Was this a kiwi wedding ? I find most thinking NZers have better taste when it come to beer (the non thinkers have no taste ??)

Don't want to sound too cynical, but all my family weddings would have seen most of them cringe at the taste of something too tasty. These are people who genuinely believe Crown Lager to be high class and that there is no better beer than VB (substitute Tooheys New / Old, XXXX, Westend Export etc). To a man they look sideways at "european beer".

I totally agree with your sentiments BH but we here are preaching to the converted. Keep the tastes simple - they'll still be very drinkable such that educated palates will appreciate the difference and the drunks will still chuck up next morning.

I dont get that. The majority of people on this foreum are Aussies...

Perhaps your still suffereing from the biab brew day ... :D
